How to put CBR comics on a Kindle

Updated 2026-11-02

CBR is a RAR archive of page images, common for older comic and manga releases. Kindles can't open it, and most free converters either refuse RAR or need you to install unrar first.

Convert a CBR for Kindle

  1. On Manga to Kindle, drop in one or more CBR files (CBZ, CB7 and PDF can be mixed in).
  2. Choose Left to right for western comics or Right to left for manga, and your Kindle model.
  3. Convert, then press Connect Kindle to copy it over USB, or download it.

Fixes we apply

  • Pages resized to your screen, so there are no thick white bars.
  • Margins cropped and contrast tuned for e-ink, so blacks look black.
  • Double-page spreads split in the right reading order, or rotated if you prefer (Pro).

Broken or odd CBR files

Some “CBR” files are really ZIPs, and some contain folders inside folders. Both work. If a file is password-protected or damaged, the job tells you which one failed.
