How to read CBZ manga on a Kindle
Updated 2026-11-02
A CBZ file is just a ZIP of page images. Kindles don't read CBZ at all, and even when you convert it with a general file converter, the pages come out small, letterboxed and in the wrong reading direction. Here's how to get a proper Kindle book.
The fast way (2 minutes)
- Open Manga to Kindle and sign in with your email (free, no password).
- Drag in your CBZ files, or the whole folder of chapters. They're sorted by volume and chapter number automatically.
- Pick your Kindle model and PDF (for a cable copy) or EPUB (for Send to Kindle), then press Convert.
- Plug in your Kindle, press Connect Kindle, and the book is copied into documents/Manga as soon as it's ready.
Why not just rename CBZ to ZIP?
You'd get loose images, and the Kindle shows images only in its experimental browser. A converted book keeps the chapter list, remembers your page, and fills the screen.
PDF or EPUB?
Over USB, use PDF: every Kindle opens it, and our pages are rendered at your screen's exact resolution, so there's no zooming. With Send to Kindle, use EPUB: Amazon converts it into a Kindle book and syncs it across devices. Kindles can't open EPUB files copied by cable.
Several CBZ chapters into one volume
Upload all the chapters together and you get one book with a table of contents, one entry per chapter. Names like Vol.02 Ch.010.5, c010 (v02) or Chapter 10 are all understood.
